To Parents of Young Children

  • Relax! God put the wiggle in children; don't feel you have to suppress it in God's house. All are welcome!

  • Sit toward the front where it is easier for children to see and hear.

  • Sing hymns loudly, pray, and voice the responses with enthusiasm. Children learn behavior by copying you. If you are fired up about God, they will be too!

  • Remember that they way we welcome Children in church directly affects the way they respond to the church, to God, to Christ, to one another. Let them know that they are at home in the Church.

  • Teach Children some of the basic prayers, being able to join in with the prayers helps them feel they are contribute too. Attend worship regularly. Children like and need routines where they can participate.

  • Children are invited to participate in communion where they learn that God loves them.

To the members of the church: A smile of encouragement is always welcome to parents with small, active children. The presence of children is a gift to the church. They give us a future filled with hope.

We are sending out Sunday School lessons weekly using the Dig In curriculum....If you would like a copy of the lesson sent to you, please contact the church office with your email address, so you can be included on the weekly email

Do you know anyone who has a newborn or will soon be having a newborn?  Please let them know about these two websites....purplecrying.info, regarding PURPLE crying....this website has some written information and a video that may help parents with newborns understand periods of crying, which many  infants go through; and safetosleep.nichd.nih.gov,  talking about SIDS and how important it is to lay babies on their backs....the website has free printable and video materials.

...Spring is here!!!...thought about planting any vegetables/fruits/greens/flowers with your children?....Don’t need a rototiller....ever heard about sustainable gardening?....put grass clippings/leaves/straw,  whatever,  on small areas  and plant a few different things around the yard and see how they do....that’s what happens in the woods and forests...talk with them about planet stewardship...which also leads to helping prevent hunger/illness....How many fresh fruits/vegetables do we by in the grocery store that are the result of big corporations taking over self-sustainable farming lands in both this country and around the world?....How many  barrels of oil are used for the growing and transporting of those goods?  How can we better take care of this planet and others?....Talk with your children...ask them...perhaps there could be some good science projects in school, at home, in the community...How and where do they see at home spending and waste;  school/church/other organizational spending/waste;  community/state/country/world spending and waste?....what are their thoughts on solving some of those inequities?

And...I leave you with these final thoughts as we try to follow the way of the risen Christ....The way will not always be easy....there will be ups and downs....be may we pray greatly, so we can “dare greatly” to step out of our comfort zones, to love all....

1 Peter 3:8-9a, NIV  “All of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate, and humble.  Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult.  On the contrary, repay evil with blessing....”

Elbert Hubbard....”The only way to avoid criticism is to do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.”
