What To Expect When You Visit

Visiting our church for the first time? We hope to create an environment where you feel at ease. Our friendly greeters will say hello and hand you a bulletin – an explanation of the order of worship. There is also a “connection card” that you can fill out if you wish, and usually an insert detailing upcoming events. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can fill out a name tag, so we can greet you by name.

The space you are in, called the narthex, has a table with information about activities at Readfield UMC. Feel free to pick up anything that interests you before or after the service.

Next, you will be invited into the sanctuary. You can sit anywhere. There are no assigned seats. 😊 In the pews, you will find two different hymnals and a Bible. Relax and enjoy the service which includes prayers, scripture reading, preaching, children's message, music, offering, Holy Communion (monthly) and blessings. You can participate as much or as little as you please, but we hope you pray along with us. We hope you feel touched by the Holy Spirit and our hospitality.

When is worship? Worship occurs every Sunday at 10 am.

Where should I park? Parking is across the street from the church.

What should I wear? We encourage you to wear whatever is most comfortable for you. Dress is casual.

Should I bring my Bible? We provide Bibles in every pew; however you are welcome to bring your own.

What will happen during a typical worship service? Greetings, prayers, contemporary music and traditional hymns, scripture passages, the pastor's message (sermon), children's time, Holy Communion, offering, and blessings.

Is your church handicapped accessible? Yes. Parking is available to the left of the building for those with disabilities. Entrance is through the side door, where an elevator will provide entry to the sanctuary.
